How to read an AI signal: from asset to expiry

We go through a signal's fields, timestamps and trade direction using one clear example.

The asset name, the direction and the time fields each answer a different question. Let's go through them in order so that you can read the whole record.

What a signal contains

A signal card brings together several separate fields. The asset name answers the question “what?”, the direction describes the type of signal, and the time helps you understand when it appeared. Read them together while keeping the meaning of each field.

Start with the asset name, then move on to the direction and the time fields. This order helps you read the card in full.

Working through an example

In the example below, EUR/USD is the asset name, CALL marks the direction and 5 min is the expiry value. This is a demonstration record for getting to know the interface, not a current signal.

EUR/USD · Learning example
Direction: CALL
Expiry: 5 min
Published: 14:32 · UTC+3

Field

How to read it

Asset

EUR/USD. The instrument the record refers to.

Direction

CALL. The mark for an upward direction.

Expiry

5 min. The duration given in the example.

Publication time

14:32. When the record appeared, in the stated time zone.

Time and context

The publication time and the trade duration describe different things. The first mark shows the moment the record appeared. The second gives the time interval stated in the signal. The chart may also have its own display period.

Mind the time zone
When you compare the record with your own notes, check the time zone of both sources. The same event can carry different timestamps.

What to keep for a review

To come back to the same record later, save the asset name, the publication date and time, and the signal parameters. Add your own observations separately from the fields that the interface shows.

  • The asset name and the publication time.

  • The direction and the record's time parameters.

  • Your own note and the outcome, as separate fields.
